Can one connect a GP2X Wiz to an Apple Mac running OSX Tiger 10.4.11 via the USB to move the emulators and software/downloads onto the SD card, or must it be a Windows based PC machine? My web browsers are Safari and Firefox.
Thanks

It also works the same way under KDE/Gnome with Linux!

As long as you can drag and drop files onto an SD card then it should not matter whether you're running a Mac or Windows. Remember that the Wiz firmware operates independently of the OS on your computer, and it simply reads from the files on the SD card or internal flash memory. It essentially acts as an external flash drive when plugged into your system via USB.

Hi, I was wondering the same thing! I don't want to risk buying a Wiz and ending up not being able to download any games...

Good to hear people are interested in the Wiz, it's a great way to get hold of old classics, also check out Wiz exclusive games on http://dl.openhandhelds.org, for stuff like a modern update of the classic Great Giana Sisters, I found some of the opensource free titles really good too, although some are rubbish as well. You should be able to get most of the console titles working, check out coolrom.com, rom-world.com, doperoms.com, and romnation.net.
Cheers

Gotchaman - I have Robotron and Defender running beautifully on the Wiz. Just remember to remap the default keys so they play properly. Come to think of it message me back if you'd like me to post those games config files for you...

Computer Novice - Thanks a lot for the info. I'm a Robotron junkie. If I can get that to play on the Wiz I'm sold! Well, Defender, Stargate and a few others would be nice, too. =)

Howdy, Gotchaman, yes, it's pretty easy to use MacMAME roms with the GP2X Wiz, just download the multiple emulator zip file in the tutorial section of this website, the address is http://gp2xwiz.info/game.zip, it puts multiple emulators on the Wiz's inbuilt memory or an SD card plugged into the Wiz, but be warned, the computer emulators are trickier to set up than the old consoles, and some of the MAME games that work on the Mac don't work on the Wiz, particularly old Sega Arcade games, but no worries, many of these titles are available as arcade conversions for download for the Sega Genesis or Turbo-Grafix(PC Engine)consoles. But Amiga and C64 emulation is much trickier, you'd probably be better off buying one of those DVD/CD Rom compilations to run them.
