How to remap buttons in MAME4all? I tried and that does not work.

Yeah that's right - the remapping is accepted but it is definitely unclear as to whether they took or not. Trial and Error :P

I think another thing to keep in mind is that the button mappings don't show correctly on the menu (eg. mouse controls are shown!) , even though they are being accepted.

It sounds like you did everything right but you missed the final step. What I do to remap buttons is hit MENU + SELECT, go to the appropriate key mapping, then press B to clear out the field; Lastly I have to press the desired button once the field is blank in order to complete the button mapping. Hope this helps!

When I press SEL+MENU and select Input(this game), I press B when selector on P1 Button 1, then field becomes empty and no remap. Game is Bomb Jack (set 1) 1984 Tehkan I need to remap B to A for jump, because B button sometimes works, sometimes not.

Once you have loaded a game simply press MENU + SELECT together to pull up the options menu for reconfiguring input keys. You may be interested in seeing the MAME Tutorial as well... Please let me know how this works for you...
